It's that time again...

Well, it's time for the State Fair of Texas and that means it is time for annual Soza/Keister Family Fun Fair Day. Yay!

It also means the new car exhibits, the midway, complete with carnival rides and last but not least, all the fried food you can imagine.

Like:

But I must say that even with all these new tasty looking fried concoctions nothing compares to:

I can’t wait for Family Fair Day 2010. I just hope someone, who will remain nameless –Kevin Keister – doesn't “ruin” fair day. Haha!

What was I suppose to say...

Last night, Ryan told me that he heard that helicopter crashed in Afghanistan and all the soldiers died. He followed that by I hope my dad is OK...I was totally caught off guard. I quickly said not to worry, that he was fine. I told him that if anything did happen someone would have called. What was I suppose to say? I didn't want him to worry and make himself sick.

You see, I had also read about the crash earlier in the day, but I knew that if his dad was involved Ryan's step mom would have contacted me to let Ryan know. So later that night, as we sat outside watching the dogs play, he asked if I would email his dad to make sure he was OK. I told him that I would. So I did and I received a reply this morning saying, "Tell Ryan that I'm OK." I immediately texted Ryan not to worry, that his dad was OK. Hopefully, he will worry a little less today.

I have so much respect for military families. The stress and worry that they go through is something that I have only experienced from the outside looking in. But yesterday, I stood on the inside with Ryan...He worries all the time whether or not his dad is safe; or if he's going to come back the same person as he was when he left or even if he'll just come back. I hope that the rest of his dad's deployment flies by. Oh and from now on the only news allowed in my home is celebrity news. At least whatever self destructive thing Lindsey Lohan is currently doing has absolutely no effect on my son or me. Haha!

Sunday Funday with the Jonas Brothers

So here is a little bit of the back story.  Last year, my best friend Bonita and her daughter Allison came up for the Jonas Brothers concert at Cowboy stadium (that Saturday night).  I didn't know much about them but I knew they were little cuties and I enjoyed there music.  Anyway, as we sat around Bonita got a message that if were were able to be at the stadium by 6:30, that night, her and 2 others, could get into a private concert rehearsal. She asked if I wanted to go and I thought sure, why not. Well that was the beginning of the end for me. I was impressed with them.  The concert was only open to maybe 2,000 people.  We were maybe 100 feet from the stage, which by the way made Allison so super giddy. Who am I kidding I was giddy too. I'm a FAN for life. Ha!  It brought back memories of when I was a kid and my mom took me to see New Kids on the Block...
Ok on to the story, so fast forward to last week.  I knew the Jonas Bros had a concert Sunday the 12th, but what I didn't know is that they were playing a softball game earlier in the day.  On Friday, I got an email at work letting us know that we were able to get free tickets for the game (courtesy of my employer)...
Long story short...I was able to get 12 tickets and invite Bonita and everyone she was bringing to the concert to the game plus Ryan, Tish and myself.  It was so stinkin hot at the game, but I thought it was worth it.

After the game we went and grabbed something to eat and cooled off.  Then it was on to the concert. And yes, Ryan did go. But not because he's a fan of the JoBros. He went because he might have a slightly small crush on Bonita's daughter Allison.

It was a long day but I know we had a great time.

A boy and his puppy

We have a new addition to our family. Last Friday, we went and picked up our newest member of our family.

Her name is Kinsler (after the Texas Ranger 2nd baseman - Ian Kinsler).
But Ryan and I are calling her Kinsey for short.
Ryan is absolutely in love with this puppy.

First day of school 2010

The first day of the 2010-2011 school has come and gone. As always, Ryan is happy to be back at school. He was ready to see all of his friends.
This was the first year that I did not take Ryan to school myself.  I had been asking Ryan all week if he wanted me to drop him off or if he just wanted me to drop him off at his Nana's house.  Well, in true Ryan fashion he did not want to hurt my feelings and kept telling me the didn't know yet.  So the Saturday before school started, as we drove the movies, I asked him again if he wanted me to drop him off. Jason immediately said, "No! He doesn't need you to take him."  I will never forget the look of relief on his face.  Then Ryan sweetly told me that he was sorry but he would rather have Nana drop him off.  To say my feelings were hurt would be a lie.  I knew that last year was the last time I would get to drop him off on the first day of school, so I was okay with it.  Really, I was.

Please excuse the smirk on his face but I snapped a picture and he wasn't done eating.

{All dressed ready to go}

It's a hard fact to swallow, but he is growing up and I have start cutting some of the strings.
