Fireworks and Birthday Cake

All though Ryan's actual birthday is was on Saturday, we did most of the celebrating on Friday. I had to work Friday, so Jason thought it would be fun to have a guys only day. That morning he got up early, Jason took him to breakfast and a movie. Then it was time for a nap, if anyone knows my son, knows he likes his sleep. When I got home they were playing a very intense game in the X-box complete with shouting and yelling. On Friday night we took Ryan out for his birthday dinner to OTB. He's really not a fan of the food, but loves the ice cream pie, which he got after the wait staff sang him the birthday song. After dinner we drove out to Rowlett. They were having a Main St festival. I must say it was very warm and the only relief came when Ryan wanted to fly a simulated air plane. Thank goodness it was in an air conditioned trailer. After about 20 minutes of cooling off and video games it was time to see some fireworks...The fireworks show this year was only about 20 minutes long but it was good. We were so close that the we were hit with the falling ashes. Besides the presents I think the firework show is his favorite part of his birthday.

After the fireworks we finally got home and Ryan just passed right out. I kept telling him that I was going to wake him up early, but the earliest I could actally get him awake was 8:45am.

I think Ryan had a great birthday!

What were you doing 11 years ago today?

Well 11 years ago today I was in my 8th hour of labor with Ryan. Just to think tomorrow, at 3:36 am Ryan will 11 yrs old. To hear myself say this is sounds crazy. I sometimes can't believe that he is this old. He is growing into a wonderful young man. Of course, he has his moments of preteen attitude but he is still a very good kid.

Tonight starts his birthday celebration, we are going out for dinner at OTB (only reason is he loves their ice cream cake) and then we are going to Rowlett for a firework show. Tomorrow he finally gets to open his presents, he'll have his birthday cake (I'm making his favorite Mexican chocolate cake) and then we are heading to "The Nana's" for a cookout later in the afternoon and hopefully find another fireworks show. Then Monday we are going to the Lego Store. That's right people, I actually found a Lego store. He'll be so excited.

Before I was a Mom...

I found this on line, this is so true...

Before I was a Mom - I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom - I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom - I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom - I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
