Bears End of Year Party

Dec 4th was the end of season football party at Peter Piper Pizza. All the boys had fun, playing games (seeing who could win the most tickets) and most importantly getting their semi-finalist trophy. The Bears ended the season 6-4-1, 4th place (out of 12 teams). They boys have already set their goal for next season, the Turkey Bowl.

Congratulations Bears on a fantastic season!

Bears vs. Panthers 0-33

November 15, 2008
Well all I can say is that I'm thankful that the boys just survived this game. The Panthers were the top team with a 9-0 record. These boys were HUGE. I still say there was no way some of those boys were 10-11 yr olds. They were giants. I think the boys just let their size intimidate them. Plus, some of the boys didn't play fair. Just ask Ryan (sore neck & back), Chris (bruised ribs) and Tyree(bruise shoulder). But no matter the score the parents were all very proud of how they never quit trying.

Bears vs Owlets 7-2

November 8,2008

This was the 2nd best, most thrilling game the boys had. The Owlets beat us during the regular season 13-7 (due mostly to penalties). So this time the boys were hungry for a win. I have to say they were very determined to get to the 2nd round of the playoffs. So much so that they practically practiced in the dark.

This game was very exciting. If you've ever attended a Friday night Texas high school football game, then you can imagine the excitement in the stadium. The game started and the Owlets started to set the pace. But the best moments of the game was in the last 2 minutes of 4th quarter score was 7-0, the Owlets drove all the way to the Bears 6yd (4rd & goal). The Owlets fans were for sure their team was about to score a TD and go for 2 to win the game. But our boys held them and the ball was turned over on on downs. Unfortunately the Bears could not advance the ball and there they sat on their own 5 yd line, 4th & 23. The next 1:30 was something you see in the movies. The Bears offensive lines up, the QB drops back, into the end zone, and basically waits to be tackled, given the Owlets a safety and a free kick.

The Bears tried for the onside kick but the it was not successful. The Owlet recover on their 45 yd line with 1:10 to go. The Owlets QB drops back and is sacked! Now it's 2nd & 15. Again they line up, the QB drops back and launches the ball straight down the center of the field. From out of nowhere comes #2 Tyree Thomas with the game winning interception. All I can remember after that was all the jumping around, chest bumping, and High fives (and that was just the parents, just joking).

They worked incredibly hard all season and were the underdogs every time. I was so proud of these boys. I think the kids were proud of what they had just accomplished. They deserved this win.

The only picture that I was able to take. This game was too exciting.

I'll try harder...

I know that I've been absolutely horrible about keeping this blog updated. But a good friend (thanks Megan!) reminded me to keep taking pictures, I can always post later. So here goes...

Thanksgiving 2008

Nov 27, 2008
This year was the very first Thanksgiving that Ryan spent with his dad Drew, Ms. Stacy and his little brother and sisters. He couldn't fall asleep the night before because he was super excited. If he knew Drew & Stacy were surprising him with Dallas Cowboy tickets, he would've never went to sleep. He has always wanted to go to Thanksgiving day game (His Pop-pop goes every year.) So I knew he'd be excited and he was. When he got home that night he couldn't stop talking about it.

Now he can't wait for Christmas break!!!

Mavs game 11-11-08

Tonight, I took Ryan to a Dallas Mavericks game. I think he had the time of his life. Wait I know he did (cause he told me so). First of all, we had the best seats that we've ever had. We were literally 11 rows from the court. It was like we could reach out and touch the players. Oh by the way the other team, the LA Lakers. That's right. Ryan got to see Kobe Bryant in person. That was totally awesome. Then he caught a t-shirt that they throw out when the team takes a time-out. He was super excited about that...Then the got to have his picture taken with 2 of the Mavs dancers (he's such a ladies man.) But more importantly, Ryan was on TV. That's right. My baby boy was caught on TV cheering for the Mavs. A friend of mine was watching the game and they recorded it so we can see it. I sure hope I was not in the camera shot. lol...
Did I mention that it was a close game. The Mavs were leading the entire game and then late in the 4th qtr the Lakers came out ahead and it was down to the wire. I would tell you who won the game but, it wasn't the Mavericks. So it's not important.

Finally an update...Still no new pictures...

Ok...So I'm just as bad at posting on Ryan's blog as I am at sending updated photos to the family. Things have just been super busy around here. Ryan's football team has made it to the playoffs. They finished the regular season 5-3-1. Although, they finished in 6th place, the team definitely deserves to be in the playoffs. Ryan did really well this season too. In the game against the Vikings he had a sack at the end of the 4th qtr that held the Vikings to 4th and inches, resulting in a turn over on downs (the teams don't punt on 4th down in this age group) with less than 45 seconds to play. They won, of course, 14-12. But the game he is most proud of was the last game against the Sharks. He had 2 key tackles, that resulted in a Bears touchdown.
I haven't been very good with the pictures cause I'm just too excited during the game to remember. But I will definitely have my camera ready this Saturday - Bears vs. Owlets...GO BEARS!!!

Ryan meets his baby sisters

On Saturday, Ryan was able to meet his baby twin sisters, Kate and Molly. As well has hang out with his little brother Connor. Ryan was very excited about finally getting to meet them. We had a very nice visit and Ryan didn't want to leave. From the pictures, he looks like he's enjoying being a big brother.

Bears vs Bison 9/20/08

Well this game was the total opposite from the previous weeks' game. It was sunny, hot and the stands and sidelines were packed. It took the boys a while to get warmed up, then they were cooking, but so were the Bison. The final score was 6-6.

Ryan played most of the game but he seemed to have lost the confidence he had in the previous game. Coach Greg has said more than once that, Ryan has got "it", he just needs to stay confident...Before practices I see Coach talking to Ryan, what is said I couldn't tell you. As I've been told, by Ryan, it's just their guy talks. The only thing I can say to that is -Thank you. Ryan looks up to Coach Greg. I can see how he holds his head up higher after they talk. I know Ryan appreciates the male influence that he receives from being in football. As I've been told, Little boys need a strong male influence in order to grow into young men. Ryan is well on his way...I'll post picture of the game as soon as I get the battery charged.

Job hunting

Ryan recently started asking when he'll be old enough to get a job (he has his eye on this new nerf gun.) His Nana (being the smartest women in the world) suggested he ask his Aunt Tish if he could "babysit" Brady. Basically helping me watch Brady on Saturday mornings. He asked and she agreed, they even worked out a payment plan.

So Saturday was his first job and Ryan made sure Brady was well cared for. When went to a our "cousin's" soccer game, Ryan made sure that Brady had enough toys and his "chu-che" (pacifier). I must say that Brady takes after Ryan, he was so well behaved-for a 7 mos old. Ryan was and still is a very good kid. He just sat on my lap and chewed on this toys...Let me just say that it has been a very long time since I've cared for an infant, I forgot how much stuff you have to bring when you go out, car seat, diaper bag, etc...but in the end we did have a good time, but it was cut short because Ryan had an early football game and it was just too hot outside for little man.

Next Saturday, we're going to look for Ryan a Halloween costume. It should be fun.

Bears vs Colts 9-13-08

Game #2 of the season has came and gone. Nothing was gonna stop the boys from playing today not even a little hurricane named IKE. Although, I would have preferred a little less wind and rain (It destroyed my new umbrella, thanks Ike), the boys didn't seemed to mind. They played hard and had a good time. Even the coaches seemed to be happy. The Bears won 19-0 (season record of 1-1.)

Custom Legos

So anyone who knows Ryan, know that he loves Legos. Any kind of legos. Recently he has been "customizing" his existing characters. Here are just a few of his new lego guys:
"Indiana Bones"

The "Best Racer"

Too sweet...

I don't think I could have ever imagined how much Ryan would love Brady. I think it surprise him as well. He is already teaching Brady about what cartoons are cool and all the trick to his Nintendo DS.

Brady looks like he really understands the game...

There faces are so focused...

Bears vs Eagles 9-6-08

This was the first game of the 5th grade Bears football season. It was a hard fought battle, with many terrific plays. Like, #27 Chris Pierson's interception, the ball literally bounced off the intended receivers helmet and into his hands. I wish I would have gotten a picture of that play, but I was too busy being in shock (I'm still learning how to work this fancy camcorder.) All the boys played a good game, however, in the end the Eagles came out with the WIN.

Ryan and Brady

Ryan absolutely adores lil' Brady. He is always make funny faces and noise, just to try to get Brady to laugh. Ryan keeps saying that he can't wait unitl he is bigger to that he can teach him "All kinds of COOL stuff.
